When In Doubt, Nettle It Out

If you've been to one of my workshops, then chances are you've heard me say "when in doubt, nettle it out". This rule of thumb followed me through my college years, my clinical practice, and now, in my own life. Sometimes, when it comes to your own healing, us medicine womxn have to rely on our own intuitions as our vices.... but sometimes it's hard. There are so many moving peices- so even in this doubt, nettle it out.

A true tonic for every person, every season, every ailment- this herbal is actually more like a leafy green, so for me its right up there with our spinaches, kale, collards... you get the idea. A true superfood, nettle is my absolute FAVORITE tonic herb- which is my favorite descriptor to say that tonic herbs strengthen the body, provide heaps of nutritive value and medicinal qualities to many different parts of the body. Interestingly enough, nettle is found in nearly every part of the world- and is considered an noxious weed by most. This herb is resilient and is showing up because well, we need him.

Nettle is well known for it being super high in protein, magnesium, calcium, potassium, vitamin K, and iron. It is one of my FAVE remedies for amping up nutritional stores in children and adults alike, nourishing pregnancy, post partum, and especially during sickness.

The greens themselves are high in chlorophyll, so when steeped medicinally (12 hours+) it should be a dark green color. There are little to no contraindications, making it super safe to suggest, especially when in doubt!

One of the reasons why our teas make you feel so dang good, is not only that we use beautiful, local and organic herbs but also that the majority of our blends feature this nourishing superfood.
So, what about you? do you have a nettle obsession yet?
